The Cherokee Registry

Preserve your family's Cherokee heritage.

PREMIUM OPTIONS AVAILABLE

Looking to trace your Cherokee roots or apply for tribal citizenship? The Cherokee Registry is here to help, offering cost-effective membership options that could save you thousands compared to hiring a genealogist. Our memberships provide assistance in uncovering your family history, securing deserved benefits, and preserving your legacy. We also offer documentation support for eligibility and include signature-ready tribal citizenship applications at no extra cost.

Our research team is experienced in solving genealogical problems. Each is a member of a federally recognized Cherokee tribe. We understand that you may have little more than a family story. We will work with you in a patient and considerate manner to accurately research and carefully document your possible connections utilizing Cherokee resources. These include tribal rolls, census data, slavery records, land allotments, treaty payments, missionary journals, and military records. This process of analyzing these records can solve genealogical mysteries and overcome roadblocks.

FAMILY TRIBAL ENROLLMENT

Whether your ancestors were full blood, freedmen, or intermarried-white, our goal is to help you and your descendants become members of a recognized Cherokee tribe. Sometimes this means discovering hidden truths, verifying family stories, and correcting family tree errors.   The sacrifices and hardships endured by your ancestors are not only part of your DNA but a lasting heritage of survival.

CERTIFICATE OF
CHEROKEE HERITAGE

It's important for us to recognize families whose ancestors were a part of the history of the Cherokee people. This includes descendants whose ancestors were Cherokee by blood, Freedmen, adopted into the tribe, intermarried whites, and more. Our certificate is a means for you to display pride in your heritage.

FIND LOST INFORMATION

Sometimes a family's lineage is complicated, or never passed down. Online family trees are often filled with errors and fictitious Native ancestors. This is where both experience and technology can really make a difference.

SO MUCH MORE!
Immortalize your Cherokee heritage.

There are many people who can document their family history back to Cherokee ancestors, yet are not currently eligible for tribal citizenship. Their ancestors may have been omitted from a particular roll as a result of decisions they made about marriage, or a safe place  to live. We offer the only recognition process for descendants of individuals who separated from the tribe, or disappeared from later rolls.

Cherokee Chronicles Commendation: Celebrating individuals whose family narratives add to the ongoing story and understanding of Cherokee history. This includes descendants of certain soldiers, Moravian missionairies, and others.

** A Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) is an official U.S. document issued by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) after the applicant provides a completed genealogy with supporting legal documents. It is meant to serve as proof of an individual’s total blood degree from all tribes in the filer’s ancestry. A CDIB does not automatically establish membership in a tribe. Tribal membership is determined by tribal laws and applied for separately.
NOTE: The Cherokee Nation has no blood quantum requirement for citizenship in the tribe.
