Too many people are not updating their profiles. This means there is much less chance you will receive important information from other members, or match events in other family histories through the search algorithm. You can keep personal information private while sharing about non-living ancestors.

    • I updated my information. All my gedmatch kits are accurate.

    • Has the registry been archived?

      • Hi Angela, The company that created it has stopped providing updates, then entirely quit supporting the software for the social interaction portion of our website. That includes how profiles are displayed and how we are texting within the site now. Their own website has disappeared and their domain name is up for sale. We have backed up the data and regularly clone the entire site and database. We’re looking at whether to purchase a new software suite, for this purpose, or have those functions custom coded into our site. I apologize for the issue. It really caught us by surprise as that company has been around for many years. We haven’t lost anything, but some things just don’t display as they should, or are missing from the user menu entirely. Whatever we do, it needs to be better than what we’ve had, because few people made use of it. I don’t think anyone has been very happy with it, including me.

        • I had wondered since it completely vanished. I paid to have my nephew and niece to get a certificate but never received them.

I used the site but noticed a lot of the photos, stories I added were not being added correctly to it.

          • Are you unable to view the site at all right now? If not, you may have a link that somehow takes you to the old server. It’s supposed to redirect, for example, any links from older pages or stories that come up in Google search results. I’ve found that a few do not and instead give a 303 error code instead of a 308 Permanent Redirect message. You should find the site at https://cherokeeregistry.com. If it’s taking you anywhere else please let me know and we’ll try to find out why. Also, if you can just give me the names of your nephew and niece, I’ll ask Amanda to search those out and send them. Since covid hit, we’ve had tragic losses, but it’s also been a time for reflection on lessons learned. We’ve made major changes and are still in the process of more. We’ll focus more on recognizing the contributions and stories of non-enrolled (authentic) Cherokee descendants, and we’ll do that in several different ways. As for the stories and photos, I believe the software/coding change will resolve that, but we’re also making it so that you can add entire folders or galleries from other locations such as google photos, and stories from Evernote.
